Angel sharks

Imagine running a stream-roller over a normal-shaped shark-the result would look rather like an angel shark. These strange, flattened sharks have extra-large pectoral fins resembling angel’s wings. Angel sharks spend much of their lives resting on the sea bed or lying in wait for fish or shellfish to move within reach of their snapping, sharp-toothed jaws. They can also swim, using their tails to propel themselves along, just like other sharks. Angel sharks are most active between dusk and dawn, travelling as far as 9 km (5.5 miles) during the night. There are 13 species of angel shark that live in shallow coastal waters around the world to depths of over 1000 m (3300 ft).
